Three more things

I got my Google/Asus Nexus 7 Tablet in the mail yesterday.
It runs the new Jellybean software and is only $200/250 for one of the best tablets out there.  Cheap enough to experiment with to see if I would use a tablet.  If not it will be a great kid movie, game, keep them busy on trips device.   I am really enjoying the "Google Now" voice thing that is like siri.

I recently found a really big hidden sandy beach while exploring my area on google earth.  I  went out and found it by bike on Tuesday.  You need to ride about a half mile on a trail that is off of the paved trail to get to it.  It is hard to see but the sand is super pure, small grain and soft.  The beach extends for at least 100 yards behind my bike.  In the pic below it is at mile 9.   Here is a link to a google map of the beach.

I finalized my road bike route to share with any takers.  It has climbs, a great twisty fast decent, some brutal gravel road climbs (road bike tested), lakes and rivers and nature all throughout and is almost completely off of roads.   This Saturday?

Two hundred bucks is pretty hard to beat. WiFi-only means it's a home device. It looks great. I'm very interested.

How far from your house is that beautiful (empty) beach in miles? - that looks like an awesome family destination.

That ride description is different than your email proposal. Multiple brutal gravel climbs? Completely off road(s)? That doesn't sound like road ride.

Q. I paid 250 for the 16 gig. Google is making the storage small without a lot of plug ins on the device to encourage cloud storage and play store purchases. The more I use cloud computing the more I like it. My phone, tablet, home and work computers are merging in a useful way. I encourage you to get the Foxfi App. I use it a ton because it is the only thing that has turned my cell phone into a wireless hotspot so easily. If I have phone service I have WiFi with one click.

The beach trail is along our route and may be fun to visit. It would be a good rest spot. For family the half mile dirt trail in isn't great but it is otherwise on nice paved trail with lots of good places to park near by.

By off road i mean paved trail with few people. I have a little fatter tires on my road bike but they are tires made for the road and do great on this course. I tried to design the route to be hard in an interesting way with lots of different ride experiences. I hope you like it.

Is there an echo in here? That ride looks like it could be fun.
