Bike Snobs book

I am about three days and three chapters in and am really enjoying the read.   Eben has such a nice way of cutting through the BS pretenses of the world and saying things in a fearlessly clear and funny way.

How is it different than his blog? - is it very?

Writing style is not too different from his blog except he is really tackling the whole world of cycling as his topic. Now through chapter 6 he has covered topics from the history of cycling to definitions of different kinds of cyclists to more philosophical topics about why we ride and why he loves cycling. Mostly it is refreshing to finally have a cycling book covering all aspects of cycling that wasn't written by some dork with pics and material that are 15 years out of date. I think people of our age and diverse cycling background are his best audience.

Sounds pretty good. Bike pics do seem to get out of date quickly don't they? - maybe we are very trendy. Are the "sections" of writing longer, the chapters or whatever? - what I mean is on his blog, the first paragraph is the funny observation or setup, then he goes on to other things, and finally ties back the first for the punchline. It seems like it would be harder to do that over five or ten pages rather than 5 paragraphs. Does it have more "serious" interludes or is it all ridiculous/ humorous/ observational/ hipster-satire?

The chapters are pretty short. No many more words than some of his longer posts. The style of writing is pretty similar with a bit less focus on events of today and more on a longer term global truths. Funny so far and lots of great quotes that I want to keep but I like the little book so much I don't want to write in it.
