Eben Weiss

Link to Wall Street Journal article.
The Bike Snob's name is Eben Weiss. He's 36 years old, grew up riding BMX and is not a stranger to the media world. After a brief stint as a New York City bike messenger, he spent more than a decade in the publishing industry, working as an agent with the Ralph M. Vicinanza, Ltd. literary agency. His wife, Sara Goodman, is an editor at St. Martin's Press, and the couple are expecting their first child in May. Mr. Weiss races locally on an amateur bike team sponsored by Gotham Bikes, a New York City shop. But by his own account, he's a mediocre racer.

I saw this yesterday too, but you beat me to the post (by like 11 hours). I'm surprised that you didn't add any personal thoughts. I totally nailed his age based on his musical tastes.

John I did the post super fast so no time for commentary at the time. He outed himself at 6:55AM on Twitter. My main guesses about him were being Jewish and in the publishing business. Doing a little internet stalking I think I found that his wife is cute, his mom is an astrologer and he likely has two brothers one of which is a speeding ticket lawyer. He actually outed himself on March 19 on a blog that took issue with him making fun of schluffing. They threatened to out him. Check out comment number 4 from the article. http://www.streetsblog.org/2009/03/19/schluffing-or-dorklocross/

Well at least you were Podium. Why did you think he was in publishing?

I don't know exactly why I have always though publishing as an industry for him. But interesting that he and his wife were in it. I have been meaning to do a "what we know or think we know about BSNYC" blog post for some time now and that thought kept coming up. It isn't much of a stretch with him being a good writer working in Manhattan. He must have made references that he knew a little too much about that industry or something. I would have guessed something in more of the "adult" publishing world.
