Yippee

Guess what I put an order in for at Hollywood cycles today? Hint: It isn't a WILF.

Not safe for Heath's work but all others it is OK.

I have a coworker who was recently diagnosed with cancer and in addition to surgery will need chemo and radiation. While being extremely supportive I suddenly found out that she apparently doesn't like to be called "cancer" but rather a person with cancer. For some other odd reason she has put me in charge of irreverent or was it irrelevant humor in relation to her process kicking that cancers butt. Well she is trying to come up with some sort of head covering as a result of the chemo making her hair fall out and has refused my suggestions of a burqa
or Peruvian wool cap.

While trying to come up with good role models for women without hair I could only come up with Sinade Oconnor
and Grace Jones.

Both apparently unacceptable. I don't know about this whole "supporting people with cancer" thing. All they seem to want is nonjudgmental supportive people who care about them. Totally unrealistic.

Creepy republican response

Governor Bobby Jindal

a Republican from Louisiana gave the Republican response to Obama's talk tonight.
I found it profoundly creepy to see a man of Indian decent saying the most cliche to a cartoon like degree Republican memes. He also did a very bad acting job of the hand, head, mouth and eye gestures not to mention the speach tone and timing of a cross between Joel Osteen

and Bill Clinton.

Money, sharks, climate and Jesus.

A news story making the rounds today involves a man named George Burgess the director of the international shark attack file at the University of Florida . He is suggesting that the reduction in shark attacks this year is because the bad economy is causing fewer people to vacation and go into the water. So apparently if there are only 250 rather than 300 people in the water sharks don't have a big enough selection to eat. Whether intended as a news of the dumb story or not it represents a growing annoyance I have been having. People and news outlets under the guise of rationality and objectivity finding it necessary to apply meaning to all events according the news story of the day. A couple of years ago this reduced shark attack level would have been because of global warming. In just post 911 times because of terrorists? Of course if I remember what I just read right there were even fewer shark attacks in 2003. Probably the bird flu caused this decrease. Sure there are real economic problems and I think global warming is an issue worth solving but if these people find the need to put meaning to all events that happen around them with some kind of flavor of the day belief system it would be a lot more consistent of them to just say it is because of what ever religious deity they believe in wants it this way. I would respect this answer a lot more and could chose whether or not to take their argument seriously a lot faster. Of course then shark attacks, terrorism and the bad economy would all be because of broke back mountain and the Academy giving Sean Penn the best actor award for his portrayal of a gay politician in the movie Milk .

"Is this real life? Why is this happening to me? Will this go on forever?"

This is a great video of a 7 year old named David who apparently got pretty high at the dentist when he needed to have stitches in his mouth. The Christian Bail and Darth Vader mash ups of the video are also pretty funny.

World animals

From a great web site: The Pink Tentacle. A world map rearranged into a rooster and a dog. Click the link for ten more animals.

Pentabike

Q blogged about this symbol some time ago. It has been featured on HTATBL where I first learned of it. It is from a messenger from Denver? who put it on his messenger bag over ten years ago and it has since spread around the world. He finally decided to profit from it with a variety of products that can be found here.

Important food

I made sure that the first animal flesh Ella ever had was lutefisk. I was not so good with Maya but I did get it in her before she turned one. Maya was screaming mad when I cut her off from eating to much of the lutefisk. After she had eaten about a half cup I started to wonder if fish preserved with lye and having a PH balance of 11-12 at points of its processing may not be good for a baby. I am so proud of my girls.
